The Watercolour Challenge Similar to my "One Year Drawing Challenge" I added now another year plan for watercolour. I intend to extend it later on in the year for oil as well.
Hope you love it. Martina Pook The One Year Drawing Challenge The hardest part is to start, all else follows more naturally. Check out my new one year drawing plan. The idea is to get into the habit of drawing by sketching 6 days a week for 10 minutes only. There is no excuse for 10 minutes a day and often you get into it and stay at it longer than expected, yet the next day you only have 10 minutes in front of you again.
Images and suggestions are provided for each day and even if the pictures are taking longer than 10 minutes, you just do what you get done. Never stress over work that remains uncompleted. On the seventh day you can get back to some of the weekly images. Hope you like it. Martina Pook What a day! We met at the Baptist Hinterland Church, so that we could all go together in a 12 person minibus. And what a pleasant drive, the weather was great and traffic much better than expected.
Our first stop was at the Lethbridge Gallery which showed the acrylic work of Scott McDougall. Next stop GOMA, although quite disappointing, as we hadn’t enough time to see anything significant, we have had a relaxing lunch at the GOMA’s coffee shop, enjoying each others companies and city views on the river. We then had our last stop at the Art Shed to enjoy a free 2 hour demonstration with Lyn Diefenbach. Lyn shared her knowledge while painting an Australian native scene in oil. It is always amazing to watch professional artists at work, that alone would have been worth going. Here are just a few points interesting points we have learned today:
If you remember any more interesting facts we have heard or seen, I would love to hear from you, so that I can add it to the list. We definitely have to do this again. Martina Let's Go Together As promised, I have organised a very special day for my students. A trip to Brisbane, having lunch together, share good times, see art and go to a FREE Painting Demonstration with Lyn Diefenbach at the Art Shed. A Day of Art in Brissie, 30 September 2007We will be starting the day visiting the Lethbridge Gallery who is one of my favourite galleries in Brisbane, as I like the skillful art Jeff is displaying. We have a sneak peak into GOMA and have lunch in one of the coffee shops there. We will finish the day with a free demonstration with Lyn Diefenback, who is an exceptional artist.
9.00am Meet at Bus 10.00am Lethbridge Gallery 11.30pm Lunch 12.30pm GOMA 2.00pm ArtShed Free Demo (2 hrs) 4.30pm Heading Home If we get the numbers, I would like to organise a mini bus (12 people) for the day. The cost would be $15 per person incl. insurance. Otherwise we organise private cars. But I think it would be great traveling all together. PLEASE RESERVE YOUR PLACE ASAP! For bus bookings I need confirmation by the 24th of September. If you don't make it you still can go by car. Show your support by signing and sharing this petition. Organised by NAVA Australia's largest Arts Organisation calls for a petition of fair pay for artists. Please join and share.

If you are an aspiring artist or art student in or around Queensland, attending art classes on the Gold Coast may be one way for you to ensure you get off to a sound start. Building a solid footing for your future profession, by attending formal painting or drawing classes makes great sense. However, learning art isn’t just good for future artists. Research has shown that spending time at art classes can bring immeasurable benefits to the minds of young children too! The Joys of Matching Passion with Profession
Whether it’s about drawing, sketching or painting – art has acquired the status of business. Few adult artists today, who attended painting classes as children, would have dreamed that one day their love of art would repay them in terms of a profession. But if you ask any prominent art professional about the secret to making a success in the arts, there’s one thing that they will say: Start out early!
