2018 Art Student Scholarship Winner
Niall O'Donnell
We are happy to announce a second winner of our yearly student scholarship. Niall O'Donnell who turned 16 years of age in December 2017 is a remarkable student. We could not help but presenting a further award this year due to Niall's outstanding talent and fervent dedication. He examples a profound understanding of proportion and colour, while fully grasping complex painting issues rapidly and promises a successful career in art.
Niall describes himself as one who loves drawing with the pencils and Copic markers and is heading into realistic art with coloured pencils, drawing mostly portraits and animals. Recently he advanced into proper colour mixing and painting with oil, since attending Martina's classes and is interested to undertake landscapes and miniature art.
"I really enjoy the art classes, because Martina explains everything so well and I learn something new every week. She is a great teacher. " says Niall. He continues to say that he loves tennis, which he plays every week, keeping fit, computer games with friends, time with family and playing with his dog Ruby, whom he drew for the D'Arcy Doyle Award, winning the People's Choice Award.
Since then he has improved his skills to a high standard and has won the D'Arcy Doyle 1st Prize in the 2019 Junior Section.
